American Checkers is a Chrome extension with a single purpose: to let you play American (English) checkers offline — an 8×8 board, men that capture forward only, and short kings (one square, not flying) — against a bot from the toolbar popup or Chrome side panel.

It is a separate product from Checkers Online and from Russian Draughts. It does not sync sessions with any website, does not create accounts and does not read, modify or track the web pages you visit.

This policy applies only to the American Checkers extension published on the Chrome Web Store (https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/ljdmfbkopnlhemppleehfclcoakfmpnb).

The extension keeps a small amount of data in chrome.storage.local, which lives only inside your Chrome profile on your device. If the Chrome storage API is not available (for example in a local development preview of the same page), the same keys may be written to the page’s localStorage instead. The packaged extension uses chrome.storage.local. The complete list:

• american_checkers_settings_v1 — computer level (1–100), which side you play (white, black or random), board theme, and whether the game opens as a toolbar popup or a side panel.
• american_checkers_game_v1 — the current board (serialized game state) and your color, so a game can resume after you close the popup or side panel.

The extension does not store your name, email address, account identifiers or browsing history. Nothing is read from other websites, and no data from other sites is written to this storage. These records are not uploaded. They stay in the Chrome profile where the extension is installed and are removed when the extension is removed.

The extension does not send game state, settings or any personal information to a server. There is no authentication, no guest accounts, no matchmaking and no fetch (or similar) call that sends settings, the game or an identifier.

It declares no host_permissions. Gameplay never depends on a network connection. The canvas board and the bot run entirely on your device.

Opening a website is not the same as sending your data. On install or update, the service worker opens https://checkers.happyvials.com in a new tab. The address has no query string, and the extension does not attach your level, theme or board position to that navigation. Chrome’s uninstall URL is set to the same address, also with no query string. A normal page load still happens in the browser, the same as if you typed the address yourself. That visit is the website’s concern, not a payload the extension builds and transmits. This policy covers the extension, not every practice of the website.

The manifest requests only the Chrome permissions required for this single purpose:

• storage — saves the settings and in-progress game listed above in chrome.storage.local on your device.
• sidePanel — so you can open the same local game in Chrome’s side panel instead of the toolbar popup. The choice is stored locally and applied the next time you click the extension icon. It is not used to read page content.

The manifest does not request tabs, cookies, identity, history, webRequest, alarms or “all sites” access. It has no host_permissions and no content scripts. Creating the install or update tab uses chrome.tabs.create, which does not require the tabs permission and is not used to read tab URLs, titles or browsing activity.

All JavaScript that runs in the extension is bundled inside the package reviewed by the Chrome Web Store. The extension does not download or execute remote scripts, does not evaluate code received over the network and does not load code from external servers.

The extension contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting SDKs and does not call third-party APIs for gameplay.

The website opened after install or uninstall has its own privacy policy at /privacy. No analytics run inside the extension popup, side panel or service worker.

We do not sell, rent or share any data from this extension with third parties. We may disclose data only where required by law.

Our use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, we certify that user data handled by this extension is:

• Not sold or transferred to third parties.
• Not used or transferred for purposes unrelated to the extension’s single purpose — playing offline American checkers.
• Not used or transferred to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

You stay in control of your data at all times:

• Change settings in the popup or side panel at any time; they overwrite the previous values in chrome.storage.local.
• The saved game is replaced as you play, so closing the window keeps only the current board and your color.
• Remove the extension — Chrome deletes all of the extension’s chrome.storage data on uninstall.
• There is no server-side copy of your settings or games to delete.

The extension is a general-audience offline game and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data through this extension, contact [email protected] and we will help address it.

We may update this policy when the extension changes — for example if a permission is added or removed. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page identifies the current version, and material changes will also be reflected in the Chrome Web Store listing. Continued use of the extension after an update means you accept the revised policy.
